The Mäntyvaara racing track is located approx. 10 kilometers from the center of Rovaniemi, surrounded by beautiful hill landscapes. 14 Toto harness races (official, bettable harness racing events) are held at Mäntyvaara per year. The two-day Juhannusravit midsummer harness race is the main event of the year, offering action and excitement, and a chance to enjoy the midnight sun. Betting is a popular activity that makes harness races even more exciting.
Racing is safe for horses even in the winter. The horses wear studded winter shoes that prevent their hooves from slipping on ice and snow. The Arctic Horse Race held in December is the top event of the winter, with world-leading jockeys competing against each other.
